WE HELP CHILDREN – ORPHANS FROM UGANDA
In November 2009, when in Africa, we visited some most beautiful places such as, among others, the Bunyonyi lake. While accommodating ourselves in the lodge (which is a sort of a better class camping) we were approached by a young white woman (as it turned out later, her name was Crystal, and she was a Canadian) holding a few-months old, dark skinned baby in her arms. She said she is running a school and an orphanage for local children not far from the lodge, and suggested a walk with her guide (free of charge) around the nearby vantage points, to finish with a short visit to the orphanage. We accepted the invitation.
On the next day, we climbed a steep path led by two guides. On the way I inquired about the orphanage as I hadn’t had too much time to do it at our first meeting. It turned out that Crystal had studied in Uganda, then she returned to Canada but she did so with the intention of opening the orphanage for Ugandan children rooted in her heart. So she started to raise money in Canada as well as save as much as she could from her own salary. After some time she returned to Uganda (now she lives in a house with no electricity or running water, like the majority of local people) and she started to work on the project to make it real. At the turn of 2007-2008, she started the construction works and looked after children living in the street – children with no parents and children whose relatives cared nothing about their fate. With her idea and her zeal she managed to engage a few local families into the project and they took the orphans under their wings. Crystal provides them with food and current education, medical care – she does her own best. With time, she has employed a nurse, two teachers and two care takers-guides. The heart’s reflex, or rather the deep faith in what we had to do on Uganda land, the help of good-willed people and tourists who came to the orphanage, let the enterprise operate and the project develop. When we reached the place we knew for sure that we are going to support the project – not only with our prayers, but also with our money. On the spot, we raised almost USD 300 and we resolved to sponsor the Lion’s Hart Pre-School (such is the name of the school and the orphanage) as a Foundation by arranging actions to raise money for the purpose and by publishing information on the web site to look for other sponsors. Cost of one child’s monthly maintenance is USD 30! Just about PLN 100 is enough to feed, accommodate, educate and take care of one child. In the orphanage run by Crystal there are almost seventy kids now (which is just a few from the whole large group of homeless children from that region) out of which more than forty has not got both parents and the rest come from families which are unable to support them. At the XXVI Meditation of Love held on December 13, 2009 in Warsaw, Poland, we raised PLN 930 (that is USD 320) for the noble goal i.e. for the monthly maintenance of the eleven children. There are other needs, however, such as building of new school rooms, orphans’ house, local clinic, water tanks. Persons willing to sponsor Ugandan children with financial assets can transfer any Mount to our Foundation’s account and title it: „Uganda Orphanage” and we shall transfer the raised funds to the Lion’s Heart Pre-School once a month. The information on the amounts raised shall be published on our web site quoting the names and surnames of the grantors (should anyone prefer to stay anonymous, please let us know). Money can be transferred directly to the orphanage account in Uganda, too – details in English at www.mindfulmarket.blogspot.com
We are sending the power of the Light and Love to the children in Uganda, to Crystal and her colleagues and to all the grantors. With Love – Foundation „Earth Consciousness” P.S. More about our stay at the orphanage and photos soon.
